Why zeebox?

zeebox is changing the way people watch TV. We were founded in April 2011, launched our iPad and web apps in October 2011, followed by our iPhone app in December 2011 and our Android App in April 2012. We are now planning for international expansion. We’re Open Source friendly and employ some leading lights in our team – we want to release more elements of our stack into the public domain and actively encourage Open Source contributions. Our stack is progressive and we’re using AWS, Scala, NoSQL, HTML5, node.js, Python, Git, Puppet, DevOps, Kanban, Continuous Integration, TDD, iOS, Android and more.

Some other achievements and milestones within our short life include:

  • #6 in The Next Web ‘Top 10 Media Apps 2011’
  • Included in The Sunday Times 500 best Apps in the World 2012
  • Netexplo award winner in March 2012
  • Scala Centre of Excellence – we’re already building the best Scala team in London and sponsored ‘Scala Days’ in April 2012
  • 'Best Companion Screen' and overall 'Winner of Winners' at The Companion Screen Awards in May 2012
