How to Cast to Sharp TV: Use This Button

I was trying to mirror my Samsung smartphone screen through the Smart View feature to watch a movie on my Sharp Android Smart TV.

However, the TV name didn’t show up on the available device list. I even tried turning off the Smart View and turning it back on but it didn’t help.

Confused, I performed a quick Google search and clicked on the first few solution guides and community forums to learn more about screencasting on Sharp TVs.

I learned that the procedure to cast content to Sharp TVs varies based on their operating system.

I used the best way to cast content to my Sharp TV and also found some alternate ways to do it if a Sharp TV model doesn’t support screencasting.

You can cast content from Chromecast-enabled apps to your Sharp Android or Roku TV using the Cast button. Connect both your smartphone and TV to the same WiFi network. Play any content on your smartphone or tablet and tap on the Cast button to start casting.

Cast Content To Your Sharp Android TV Via Chromecast Built-In

The process to cast content to Sharp TVs depends on their operating system.

Sharp TVs based on the Android platform have Chromecast built-in that allows you to cast your favorite movies or TV shows directly from an Android device.

Note that you can only cast content from a Chromecast-enabled app installed on your Android smartphone or tablet.

Some popular Chromecast-enabled streaming apps include YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, etc.

Here’s how to cast from Chromecast-enabled apps to your Sharp TV:

  • Make sure that your smartphone or tablet is on the same WiFi network as your Sharp Android TV with Chromecast built-in.
  • Launch a Chromecast-enabled app like YouTube or Netflix.
  • Play your favorite content and tap on the Cast button.
    • Note: The cast button is usually located at the top right corner of the playback screen.
  • Select your Sharp TV from the list of available devices.
  • Once the connection is successful, the Cast button turns solid

Note: For Sharp Roku TV models, you can follow the same procedure as mentioned above and use the Cast button to cast media from your Android smartphone or tablet.

Use Miracast To Mirror An Android Phone Screen To Sharp Aquos TV

Miracast enables screen mirroring from an Android phone to a Smart TV. Screen mirroring differs from casting based on several factors.

While screen mirroring replicates your phone screen directly onto the TV screen, screencasting only shares specific content with the TV.

Screen mirroring limits multitasking on your phone. For instance, if a video is playing via mirroring on your TV, you will not be able to use your phone to call or check messages.

One major advantage of screen mirroring is that it allows you to play content from your smartphone even from apps that do not support Chromecast.

Alternatively, screencasting allows multitasking as you can use your phone for other purposes without interrupting the content casting on the TV screen.

In fact, you can also control the playback to stop, pause, or change the volume of content playing via screen casting through your TV remote.

Sharp TVs based on the Aquos Net+ platform have Miracast built-in that enables screen mirroring.

Here’s how to use Miracast to mirror your phone screen to Sharp TV:

  • On your Sharp TV home screen, open Miracast or Screen Mirroring
    • Note: The location of the Miracast or Screen Mirroring feature may vary based on your Sharp TV model. Refer to the TV manual to get its exact location.
  • Now, from the pull-down notification bar or Settings of your phone, enable the default screen mirroring feature
    • Note that this feature name may vary based on your smartphone. Some examples include Screencast, Smart View, Screen Share, etc.
  • Wait for your TV name to appear on the available device list and select it
  • You may need to enter a code or have to select the Allow option to start mirroring
  • The phone screen content should start coming up on your Sharp TV
  • You can start playing any video, movie, or TV show and view it on the TV screen

Use Screen Mirroring Feature On Sharp Android and Roku TVs
