Who knew Paramount Plus had other plans? 

No matter how much I tried, it wouldn’t let me stream.

Every time I hit play, error code 124 popped up on the screen and returned me to the home page. 

After several unsuccessful attempts, I did a quick Google search and found out that this was a rather common issue faced by Paramount Plus users. 

So I sat down to troubleshoot various aspects of the streaming service. A couple of attempts later, I found a fix.

If you see Paramount Plus error code 124 flash on your screen, clear the cache from your device or browser to fix the error. In case you use an ad-blocker or VPN, you may also need to disable those to enjoy your favorite shows again. 

What is Paramount Plus Error Code 124

Error code 124 is a relatively common error while streaming media via Paramount Plus.

Another common server error you may see is the Paramount Plus error code 3205.

These errors occur when your browser or system is not able to access paramountplus.com servers.

The authorization for Paramount Plus can be restricted because of:

• Corrupted or damaged files
• Ad-blocker restrictions
• VPN rerouting
• Faulty or unstable internet

You need to apply a different fix for each restriction encountered.

Clear Paramount Plus App Cache

App saved regularly accessed files in a high-speed data storage layer called cache.

This allows faster startup times and improves the overall performance of the app. 

However, at times, files in Cache can become corrupted or damaged which hinders the functionality of the application. 

These files can also lead to the error code 124 on Paramount Plus.

In this case, your Paramount Plus will start working again only after you purge those files out of the system.

Clear Paramount Plus App Cache on iPhone or iPad

1. From the app drawer, open “Settings”.
2. Scroll down and click on the “Paramount Plus” app.
3. Toggle the “Reset cache on next start” button ON.
4. Toggle the “Clear temp data on next start” button ON.
5. Go to the home screen.
6. Relaunch the Paramount Plus app. 

Clear Paramount Plus App Cache on Android Device

1. From the app drawer, open “Settings”.
2. Click on the “Apps” menu.
3. Select “Manage apps” or “Installed apps”.
4. Scroll down and click on the “Paramount Plus” app.
5. Click on “Clear data”.
6. Click on “Clear cache”.
7. Go back to the home screen.
8. Relaunch the Paramount Plus app.

1. From the home screen, click on “Settings”.
2. Click on “Apps”.
3. Select the “Paramount Plus” app.
4. Click on “Clear cache”.
5. Go back to the home screen.
6. Relaunch the Paramount Plus app.

1. Open a new tab in your browser.
2. Press “Ctrl + Shift + Delete” simultaneously on your keyboard.
3. Select “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files”.
4. Click on “Clear data”
5. Close the browser and relaunch it.
6. Open paramountplus.com and stream your favorite shows.

Disable Ad-blocker to Fix Paramount Plus Error Code 124

Ad-blockers are a great way to get rid of unwanted pop-ups but they can also affect the activity of some apps. 

Paramount Plus requires your ad-blocker disabled to stream video-on-demand content.

Hence, to ensure that the ad-blocker is not causing the Paramount Plus Error Code 124, disable it.

2. Click on the “lock” icon on the left of the site address.
3. Click on “Site settings”.
4. Scroll down to “Ads”.
5. From the dropdown, select “Allow”.

Disable ad-blockers in Firefox

1. Open paramountplus.com
2. Click on the “shield” icon next to the address bar.
3. Turn off “Enhanced tracking protection”.
4. Reload paramountplus.com

Disable ad-blockers in Microsoft Edge

1. Open Microsoft Edge.
2. From the menu, select “Settings”.
3. Click on “Privacy and services”.
4. Scroll to the “Tracking protection” section.
5. Select the “Basic” option.
6. Relaunch the browser

Disable ad-blockers in Safari

1. Open “Settings” on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Scroll down and select “Safari”.
3. Go to the “General” section.
4. Select “Content Blockers”.
5. Toggle off the “Ad blocker”
6. Relaunch the Safari browser

Most browsers don’t have extensions enabled when you go into incognito mode, so try opening up an incognito tab for a session that does not have your ad-block enabled.

You can get it back by opening a normal tab which will have all your extensions on.

Disable VPN to fix Paramount Plus Error 124

Paramount Plus requires access to your location to stream live TV channels.

A VPN reroutes traffic outside your current region which hampers the performance of Paramount Plus.

Hence, for seamless media streaming, make sure the VPN is disabled.

Turn off the VPN on an iOS device

1. Open device “Settings”.
2. Click on “General”.
3. Select “VPN & Device Management”.
4. Click on “VPN”.
5. Toggle the “Status” button off.

Turn off the VPN on an Android device

1. Go to device “Settings”.
2. Click on “Connection & Sharing” or “Network & Internet”.
3. Click on “VPN”.
4. Toggle the switch off.

Turn off the VPN on a macOS computer

1. Click on the “Apple” icon.
2. Select “System Preferences”.
3. Click “Network”.
4. Select the VPN network.
5. Click “Disconnect”.

Turn off the VPN on a Windows computer

1. Click on the “Windows” icon.
2. Go to “Settings” and “Network & Internet”.
3. Click on “VPN” from the left panel.
4. Select the VPN network.
5. Click “Disconnect”.

Once you turn off the VPN, Paramount Plus will be able to access your location again and the streaming live TV channels feature should resume as normal. 

If you have an external VPN program like Windscribe, disable that instead of doing so through Windows or Mac system settings.

Check for Internet Issues

In case of a faulty internet or unstable internet connection, Paramount Plus may show error code 124.

If your internet connection is less than 4 MBPS, Paramount Plus may find it tough to access the necessary authorization to stream content. 

In such a case, restart your router to fix any internet-related issues.
